It has 24 illustrations (xylographs) designed by Jean-Ignace-Isidore Gérard Grandville and Karl Girardet and engraved by Barbant, Paul Constant Soyer, Chevauchet and Quichon (not all signed); and ornamental headpieces and initials (not about Don Quixote). It was re-printed for Tours: Mame et Cie., 1858. "Charming series, the wood-cuts being of their kind as delicate as the engravings" (Ashbee, about 1858).
