Illustrations: The edition includes a portrait of Cervantes (photographical reproduction of Juan de Jáuregui's painting) and 219 illustrations designed by Berthold Mahn. It has five illustrated title pages (one for vol. 0 and one for volumes I-IV), a frontispiece, 126 headpieces, 43 chapter illustrations (35 in black and white and eight in color) and 44 tailpieces.
It also contains a map (facsimile after Madrid: Ibarra, 1780), 15 facsimile documents about Cervantes' life and a letter by Berthold Mahn from Spain (Manzanares, October 10th, 1933).
The designs and the documents were reproduced in facsimile by Daniel Jacomet.
