Commentary Well-known scene; don Quixote is knighted at the inn by the innkeeper; also doña Tolosa and doña Molinera (left) and the boy with a candle (right); by the inn door, a third woman.
The figures are mainly comical, of small size and almost grotesque (the figure of the innkeeper is disproportionate); the humorous sense of the scene is reinforced. 
Notes 1 - The scene is based on Coypel's (Paris: Surugue, 1724); see the same inn sign with a cross in both illustrations; the figures have lost the court sense of Coypel's and have became more comical and realistic.
