Commentary Well-balanced composition with two different scenes:
The first one in the foreground: don Quixote and Sancho kneel down before one peasant girl introduced by Sancho as the enchanted Dulcinea; also two more peasant girls.
The second scene in the background: the three peasant girls run away and one of them falls from her donkey, showing her ass (humorous).
The same basic composition will be used until the 20th century.
Notes 1 - Same plate engraved for Paris: Barbin, 1681.
2 - Copy after Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-1673.
