Commentary Sancho, knelt and begging, has been used as an "I"; allusion to the moment when Sancho begs don Quixote for his Island.
Sancho has been represented carrying a sword, as he appears since the earliest illustrated editions (Lisboa: Jorge Rodríguez, 1605; Paris: Denis Moreau, 1618; London: Blount, 1620); the detail is accurate to Cervantes' text.
Notes 1 - Same initial and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
