Commentary Don Quixote testing his arms at his library.
Don Quixote's representation is more serious than comical.
The room is quite tidied up; in contrast, other illustrations represent the library in a mess as a symbol of don Quixote becoming mad.
Good drawing and engraving; academic.
Notes 1 - Turned and good copy after Agustín Navarro's illustration for Madrid: Sancha, 1797-98.
2 - Placed as frontispiece.
3 - Same plate first used for Paris: Chez. Ant. Aug. Renouard, 1820.
