	Commentary	Excellent representation of this episode. The painter has developed a theatrical composition to reinforce the drama of the scene; in the center of the whole composition, don Quixote lying almost dead and surrounded by the penitents, the two priests, the canon and the officers of justice.
	Notes	1 - It has been used a variety of chromolithography known as oleography to imitate an oil painting. 2 - The illustration has not got any kind of signature. 3 - "En la lámina a todo color, en que el honrado Balaca nos presenta la aventura de los disciplinantes, seguimos plenamente en esa realidad cotidiana. Esto es una procesión española, tal como Balaca las veía a cada paso, tal como aún pueden verse hoy en día, sólo con algunos toques de "sabor histórico", de "color de época". Es éste un arte minucioso, documentado y tradicional. Viene directamente de la gran edición académica de 1780, sin estorbos ni soluciones de continuidad, sin ni siquiera tropezar con Goya" (GG247).
