| Commentary | Countess Trifaldi's retinue enters the garden of the Duke's palace; accurate to Cervantes' text, the dueñas are dressed in mourning robes, veiled and three pages hold Trifaldi's three-pointed train. Don Quixote, the Duke and Duchess (placed in the background) welcome her.
