Commentary Cervantes' portrait in an oval frame.
Underneath, a pedestal with an ouroboros (snake forming a circle), bifront Janus (Roman god that could see past and future), a laurel wreath and the inscription "VIVET ET A NULLO TENEBRIS DAMNABITUR AEVO. Lucano" (It [the poem] will live and it won’t be condemned to darkness by no generation; Lucan’s Pharsalia, IX. 986); all symbols about fame and inmortality.
Notes 1 - Same portrait from Madrid: Imprenta Real, 1819.
