Commentary | Don Quixote, mounted on Rocinante, observes from behind the inn wall (foreground) how Sancho is tossed in a blanket by the innkeeper, Juan Palomeque, and others (background).
Original composition; it was more used the composition created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657) with Sancho in the foreground and don Quixote in the background. Accurate details: bottle with Fierabrás' balsam tied to don Quixote's saddle. Good and detailed engraving (don Quixote's armour, log, Sancho "flying"...). Good setting. |
Notes | 1 - Plate newly-engraved by A. Blanco with light changes after the illus. in Madrid: Ibarra, 1782. |
