Commentary Reference to the captive's tale; Zoraida pretends to faint when his father, Agi Morato, discovers her with the captive.
Setting, drawing and engraving are excellent; illustration in keeping with Romanticism and Doré's liking for Orientalism.
Doré has reproduced the Courtyard of the Lions from the Palace of La Alhambra (Granada); Doré visited Spain in 1861-62 and made some sketches of this palace.
Notes 1 - Reproduced after Paris: Hachette, 1863.
