Commentary | Don Quixote, Sancho and others watch don Gaiferos and Melisendra's puppet show; don Quixote especially worried.
Doré, with great originality, has placed the puppets in the foreground, as if the viewer was inside the theater. Excellent drawing and engraving; remarkable illustration. Notice some accurate details: the bells; "ya la ciudad se hunde con el son de las campanas que en todas las torres de las mezquitas suenan" (26:2). |
