Commentary This illustration is a quite free interpretation.
According to Cervantes' text, the viceroy, seeing Ana Félix' beauty, stops his execution (by hanging) and he asks her about her story.
In the illustration, an executioner is ready to cut Ana Félix' head, but Cupid stops the axe.
