Commentary | Don Quixote/Alonso Quijano dies sane; around his bed, the notary, Sancho, the barber, the priest, the housekeeper and the niece; in the background, entering the room, the bachelor Sansón Carrasco.
Notice that the composition and the arrangement of the characters have been copied after Velázquez' Meninas. Don Quixote appears reflected on the mirror and accompanied by Death (skeleton). Scene resolved with Herreros' personal, characteristic and parodic drawing style. |
