Commentary | On the left, don Quixote, bandaged and in bed, and doña Rodríguez talking by the light of a candle (accurate to Cervantes' text).
From the right, Altisidora and other Duchess' maidens arrive holding their shoes; one of them is almost catching doña Rodríguez. Extraordinary detailed setting (furniture, canopy, clock...). Coypel has inserted one anecdotal element: a cat observing a mouse. Excellent light and shadow effects; drawing and engraving of great quality. |
