Commentary | Sancho Panza, in the center of the composition, gesticulates while three servants, by doctor Pedro Recio's order, take away the most delicious dishes.
Pedro Recio is dressed in a ridiculous manner. Suitable scene for Coypel's style: many servants (forming a semicircle), rich architecture, chandelier, curtains, clothes... Acceptable engraving. |
Notes | 1 - Copied after Demeuse's engraving (Francfort: Bassompierre, 1750) after Charles-Antoine Coypel's design (first appeared in Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30; also copied for La Haye: P. Gosse & A. Moetjens, 1744 and later editions). |
