Commentary Well-known scene; doctor Pedro Recio does not allow Sancho to eat and, pointing the dishes with his wand, orders the servants to take them away; several ladies and gentlemen observe them.
Highly-detailed drawing and engraving; figures of great beauty (ladies on the left) and realism (servants on the right); good pictorial effects too.
Vanderbank represented this scene with quite more austerity (London: Tonson, 1738).
Notes 1 - Plate IX.
2 - Facsimile reproduction of turned copy by Thomas Cook (The Genuine Works..., London: Longman, 1808-10, and later reprints).
