Commentary | Image based on Savery's illustration (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657).
On the left, the cart with the actors of Angulo el Malo's company (disguised as Devil, Cupid, Emperor, Queen, Soldier and Death). In the foreground, the "bojiganga" (represented as a Chinese) mounting Sancho's donkey while the squire runs to help don Quixote (fallen with Rocinante in the background). Good engraving in some details. |
Notes | 1 - The plate is not signed by any illustrator.
2 - This illustration has been included following the program created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657) and Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73). |
