Commentary | In the foreground, Grisóstomo's corpse surrounded by shepherds and Ambrosio (standing up).
In the background (left), don Quixote and Sancho looking at Marcela (upper right part). Notice the composition in diagonal from the shepherd knelt down through Ambrosio to Marcela. Marcela's idealized figure is of great beauty; drawing and engraving are masterly. Remarkable classicist figures (see Grisóstomo or the old shepherd, who looks like a classical philosopher). |
