Commentary | Scene resolved with great accuracy.
In the background, Merlin's cart drawn by mules with white housings and penitens with lighted tapers mounted on them; on the cart, Merlin, as Death, and Dulcinea, in white and veiled. In the foreground, the Duke, don Quixote, the Duchess and Sancho; notice that the squire is covering with his left hand his torn clothes. Well-resolved figures, detailed setting and good coloring (night light). |
