Commentary | Accurate to Cervantes' text, Trifaldín appears as a giant, in mourning, veiled, white-bearded and with a scimitar; three musicians (two drummers and a fife player) accompany him.
Well-resolved and detailed figures and good setting and coloring. Notice that in the illustration Trifaldín is played by two men (one over the other to simulate a giant body); this detailed is not explained in Cervantes' text. |
