Commentary Second illustration for the inserted story of the captive; this shows early Romanticism taste for Orientalism.
When Zoraida's father, Agi Morato, almost surprises her with the captive, she feigns to faint; excellent figures arranged as an only group.
The drawing takes pleasure in details (exotic clothes, jewels, veil, turban...); the engraving is masterly reproducing all these details.
Remarkable illustration because of its quality and its novelty.
Notes 1 - This episode was first represented in London: Tonson, 1738.
