Commentary Don Quixote, sane and calm, dictates his last will to a notary (foreground). In the background, the housekeeper, the niece, Sansón Carrasco, the barber, the priest and Sancho Panza; Sancho in a very secondary position.
Not too much dramatic scene; just the housekeeper and the niece crying.
Good composition, a bit theatrical.
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for London: William Miller, 1801.
2 - Copied after Antonio Carnicero and Fernando Selma's illustration (Madrid: Ibarra, 1780) with little changes: two candles over the table of the notary have been eliminated; now, a lamp appears on the left, so the general lighting has been changed.
