Commentary In the center of the composition, don Quixote driving his sword into a wild boar.
In the background, the Duke embraces the Duchess; she looks like a new Diana.
In the foreground, the humorous part: Sancho flees away climbing up a tree.

Notes 1 - Same plate first used for Paris: Compagnie des Libraires, 1732.
2 - Turned copy with a new vertical format after Coypel’s illustration (Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30); the scene has been simplified, with less servants, dogs and trees.
