Commentary | Don Quixote begins to do some somersaults (love penance) before Sancho leaves for El Toboso.
Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). It can be compared with Antonio RodrÃguez' illustration (Madrid: Imprenta Real, 1797). Drawing and engraving are acceptable. |
Notes | 1 - Copy with fewer details after Lefebvre's illustration (Paris: Didot-Deterville, 1799); also previously copied by Bigant for Paris: Chez Gide, 1806 and Paris: H. Nicolle, 1809 and by Macret for Paris: Briand, 1810.
2 - Same plate first engraved for Paris: Renouard, 1812. |
