Plate II is inserted in Volume I,
Chapter 2, page 13, and depicts the mock
knighting of Don Quixote at the inn. It is
entitled "Don Quixot believes he is to Receive
in the Inn The Order of Knighthood." The legend
states "Car. Coypel pinx" at the left-hand side,
and in the right bottom corner a notice reads,
"Sold by G. Vander Gucht in Queen Street
Bloomsbury." The paper is thin and the engraved
image shows a slight evidence of embossing. It
measures 330 x 330 mm and has been trimmed at
the top and folded twice in both directions. |
