Commentary Two different scenes in the same plate:
The first one, in the background: don Quixote makes some mad acts (some somersaults half-naked) before Sancho leaves for El Toboso mounted on Rocinante.
The second one, in the foreground: don Quixote remains alone in Sierra Morena doing his love penance (praying with a rosary).
Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style.
Notes 1 - The scene in the background is based on Savery's illustration (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657 and later editions).
