Commentary | Don Quixote tries to put order and peace during the fight at the inn for the barber basin and the pack-saddle.
Several figures surround him: priest, barber Nicolás, don Fernando and his companions, don Luis and his father servant's, officers of justice, innkeeper... On the right, Sancho and the barber continue fighting for the pack-saddle. Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style. |
Notes | 1 - Based on Savery's illustration (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657 and later editions); in Savery's, the scene was set outside the inn, now inside. |
