Commentary Two different scenes in the same plate:
The first one, in the foreground: don Quixote kneels before a peasant girl mounted on a donkey introduced by Sancho as the enchanted Dulcinea; two more peasant girls accompany her.
The second one, in the background: the "enchanted Dulcinea" falls from his donkey and don Quixote tries to help her.
Drawing, shading and engraving are quite good; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style.
Notes 1 - Based on Bouttats' illustration (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73).
