Commentary The first of three scenes dedicated to Cardenio's story; Cardenio's father gives him a letter from Duke Ricardo, who wants him to be his son's companion in AndalucĂa.
Well-drawn and engraved figures, with good gestures; interest in scenes set in the Middle Ages, in keeping with Romanticism liking.
Notes 1 - Same illustration and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
