Commentary | Johannot has divided this well-known episode in three different illustrations; this is the first, limited to Maritornes and the innkeeper's daughter sticking their heads out of a window and attracting don Quixote's attention.
Maritornes' image, accurate to Cervantes' description (one-eyed), is remarkable. |
Notes | 1 - Same illustration and wooden block first used for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37. |
