Excellent drawing. Remarkable combination of lithographic pencil (drawing and shading), sepia background and white reserves to represent a perfect atmosphere. Good precedent for Doré's don Quixote. Illustration of great quality. It can be compared with Johannot's illustration (Paris: Dubuchett, 1836-37). |
