Commentary In the foreground, the humorous action: don Quixote orders Sancho to let the Dueñas pinch him; "Ten paciencia, hijo, y da gusto a estos Señores, y muchas gracias al cielo, por haber puesto tal virtud en tu persona" (69:2).
Sancho is wearing a tunic with flames and a mitre (it should be a conic hood or capirote as used in Autos de Fe).
In the background, more theatrical and dramatic, Altisidora appears lying on a catafalque; also a boy ("un hermoso mancebo vestido á lo Romano") playing the harp, the Duque, the Duchess, Minos and Radamanto (as kings).
The engraving is better executed in the foreground figures than in background ones.
Notes 1 - Same plate by Bouttats first used for Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673.
