Commentary | Well-known scene since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, after 1734) and Vanderbank (London: Tonson, 1738); now, without too much novelty.
In the foreground, Dorotea washing her feet and "combing" her hair by the side of a small river. From the left, the priest, the barber and Cardenio appear, surprising her. Light disproportions in Dorotea's figure. Good plate as a whole. |
