Commentary Scene chosen with great originallity and novelty; don Quixote, preparing to fight with the lion (adventure also represented in the next illustration), asks Sancho to give him his helmet.
The illustration, as represented by Marstrand, is not comical; only reading Cervantes' text, when we know that Sancho has put some cheese into the helmet, it becomes comical.
The action lacks realism; don Quixote and Sancho's figures are good by themselves (specially don Quixote, melancholic), but there is not relation between both of them.
Notes According to the Index included at the end of the volume, this illustration (Plate IV) is rightly placed.
