Commentary | In Sierra Morena, don Quixote begins his love penance (some somersaults) before Sancho, on Rocinante, leaves for El Toboso.
Well-known scene, but this illustration is highly remarkable and original. Vierge's style is absolutely masterly. Usual in Vierge's illustrations, some element in black (Sancho) creates a worth noting contrast. His short and fine drawing lines imitate etching. |
