Commentary | The illustration has been resolved as imagined by don Quixote himself; he and Sancho, both in an enchanted boat, approach a castle/prison protected by all kind of monsters and ghosts (mill and millers); don Quixote brandishes his sword against them while Sancho, knelt, prays.
Very remarkable and original variety of figures, resolved with great fantasy; the style of these imaginary creatures reminds Hieronymus Bosch's painting (compare with the triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights). |
