Commentary | Zoraida's father, Agi Morato, is abandoned in Cava Rumia.
Well-known scene and composition (in the foreground Agi Morato desperate on the beach; in the background, the boat with Zoraida and the captive), but Lalauze's personal and remarkable style makes this illustration unique. Excellent drawing and engraving; illustration resolved with great force. |
Notes | 1 - This scene was quite habitual by the middle of the 19th century; compare with Roux' (Paris: Furne, 1865) or Houghton's (London: Warne, 1866). |
