Commentary | Don Quixote charging against the barber, who throws himself from his mule onto the ground to avoid his lance.
The barber is wearing on his head a basin (Mambrino's helmet for Don Quixote); notice that it appears in the center of the whole image. In the background, Sancho gesticulating to stop don Quixote. Good illustration; well-resolved movement and action; don Quixote's mad expression is specially remarkable. |
Notes | 1 - The title page refers to "Farbendruckbildern" (images printed in colors; chromotypes); Wald's original watercolors have been reproduced using different photography negatives. The result is quite similar to a chromolithograph.
