Commentary | Don Quixote during the vigil of his arms at the inn courtyard; accurate to Cervantes' place, the arms and armour (spurs, breast, gauntlets, arms, shield, helmet, sword...) have been placed on a water trough.
Don Quixote's figure, extremely slim and elongated (almost disproportionate), is very remarkable; notice his expression, almost cadaverous. In the background, the muleteer appears holding a lamp. Drawing and etching are masterly; excellent shading (moon light); very remarkable and well-detailed setting too. |
Notes | 1 - Plate dated in 1843; the year is divided by a corkscrew. |
