Alonso Quijano, reading chivalry books, becomes mad; several chivalry books on the floor and on the table; the greyhound barking/howling.
Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and furniture; realistic and picturesque.
Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow; don Quixote's gesture seems forced. 
Notes 1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1898 in Sevilla and presented at the Exposition of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1898).

Tras de tales lecturas, ha sobrevenido el arrebato, ha suspendido la lectura, se ha levantado, y con el rostro contraído de rabia, los puños cerrados, en airada actitud, quisiera dar una mano de coces al traidor de Galalón.
