	Commentary	"And having pondered on the matter eight whole days more,...". Alonso Quijano thinking about his new name (don Quixote); the greyhound follows him yawning. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and furniture; realistic and picturesque. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow.
	Notes	1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1898 in Sevilla and presented at the Exposition of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1898). 2 - "La composición que viene luego se distingue por su originalidad, por el humorismo y la fina gracia con que sobriamente expresa el asunto. Nuestro hidalgo, fijo en aquel pensamiento en que duro otros ocho días, se ha encerrado en un aposento, olvidándose de las horas de comer, ni de que tiene casa, ni ama, ni sobrina; sin duda para que éstas no le importunen, atrancó la puerta con una silla, echó llave y cerrojo, y, seguido del galgo que bosteza aburridísimo de aquella encerrona, se pasea de largo á largo con el dedo índice apoyado en la frente, de donde quiere sacar su nuevo nombre: Don Quijote" (José Ramón Mélida: “Don José Jiménez Aranda y su "Quijote"", vol.
