Commentary "It happened just at this time, that a swineherd, who in a stubble hard by was collecting a drove of hogs...".
A swineherd blowing his horn to collect a drove of hogs.
Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes and landscape; realistic and picturesque; excellent as a genre scene.
Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light. 
Notes 1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1898 in Sevilla and presented at the Exposition of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1898).
