Commentary "... and the landlord bronght [sic] him a portion of ill-waked and worse cooked stockfish...".
The innkeeper serves don Quixote's dinner; also in the scene the party girls (one of the them with a muleteer in the background) and a young groom; the figure of the innkeeper is specially remarkable.
Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period setting, clothes and details; realistic and picturesque.
Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow. 
Notes 1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1898 in Sevilla and presented at the Exposition of Fine Arts of Barcelona (1898).
