	Commentary	"And seizing him by the arm, he tied him up to the oak again,". In a forest, once don Quixote has left, Juan Haldudo ties Andrés up to an oak again to continue whipping him; notice their remarkable gestures, specially Andrés' expression. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes and landscape; realistic and picturesque. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow.
	Notes	1 - The original drawing (Chinese ink and gouache white) was finished in 1899 in Sevilla and presented at the National Exposition of Madrid (1899). 2 - "Análogo estudio hizo para el cuarto capítulo en una finca que junto á Sevilla posee D. Anselmo Rivas. Allí pintó los fondos de bosque que le fueron necesarios para desarrollar en diez composiciones el pasaje de los azotes de Andrés, atado á la encina. Junto á ella se desarrolla toda la escena y así el artista buscó, como de costumbre, diferentes puntos de vista en un mismo sitio. La lozanía del paisaje, los juegos de la luz del sol, las figuras del caballero, el recio labrador y el robusto muchacho desnudo del torso, dieron al artista la variedad de motivos que buscaba y estudió con tanta inteligencia" (José Ramón Mélida: “Don José Jiménez Aranda y su "Quijote"", vol.
