	Commentary	"Upon the faith of your word then, said Don Quixote, I will do him no farther hurt,". Don Quixote promises to the Basque lady not to hurt his Biscayan squire, lying on the ground half-dead; around them, a dueña, other squire/coachman and Sancho; in the background, other squires/gentlemen on horseback. Notice the gestures of the main figures. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes and details; realistic. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow with impressionist effects.
	Notes	1 – Reproduction of the original sketch (Chinese ink and gouache white). Jiménez Aranda meant to paint a more-finished drawing after this sketch using natural sceneries and real models, but he died before completing the project. 2 - "Es muy notable la dignidad del caballero andante cuando pone la punta de la espada sobre los ojos del vencido, y cuando promete á las damas no hacerle más daño" (José Ramón Mélida: “Don José Jiménez Aranda y su "Quijote"", vol.
