	Commentary	"The innkeeper came in exclaiming: «Where art thou,...?»". The innkeeper Juan Palomeque, raising his lamp, asks for Maritornes, who has hidden herself beside Sancho; the squire wakes up at this moment. Also int he scene, don Quixote lying oh his broken bed and the muleteer. Great interest in representing real Spanish characters and accurate period clothes, setting and details; realistic and picturesque. Jiménez Aranda's drawing skill is masterly; remarkable use of light and shadow with impressionist effects.
	Notes	1 – Reproduction of the original sketch (Chinese ink and gouache white). Jiménez Aranda meant to paint a more-finished drawing after this sketch using natural sceneries and real models, but he died before completing the project. 2 - "... dibujos llenos de gracia y de expresión. [...] el sentimiento con que están tratadas las formas vacunas de la maritornes; los vivos rasgos con que están pintadas las escaramuzas y pendencias, prestan mayor interés á estos dibujos" (José Ramón Mélida: “Don José Jiménez Aranda y su "Quijote"", vol.
