Commentary Johannot has divided this well-known episode in three different illustrations; this is the second one: don Quixote appears hung by his hand from an inn window.
In contrast with previous illustrations of this same scene (see Dordrecht: Savery, 1657 or London: Walthoe, 1731), Johannot has limited it to don Quixote's figure, perfectly detailed; Rocinante, the four travelers and the innkeeper have not been included.
The image, although well-drawn and engraved, is not expressive enough.
