Commentary Don Quixote and Sancho are saying goodbye to the Duke and the Duchess when Altisidora appears to demand three night-coifs and a pair of garters.
Wrongly-set scene.
Vanderbank has represented the characters into a room, but Cervantes describes them at the palace courtyard.
Figures of excellent drawing and engraving; Altisidora (of great beauty and carefully-done gesture) is specially remarkable.
Notes 1 – Plate newly engraved in a reduced size by Van der Gucht after his own plate with Vanderbank’s design first engraved for London: Tonson, 1738.
