Commentary In the foreground, don Quixote fallen on the ground and defeated by the Knight of the White Moon (Sansón Carrasco).
In the background, Sancho Panza, Antonio Moreno, the Viceroy and others observe the scene.
Set on Barcelona beach (galleys and walled port).
Basic composition since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657); now, more detailed and well-engraved. 
Notes 1 – Plate newly engraved in a reduced size by Van der Gucht after his own plate with Vanderbank’s design first engraved for London: Tonson, 1738.
